Another Important Step in the Realisation of the Parkville CCC
- Signing of the Joint Venture Agreement
Following on from the Australian Federal and Victorian State Governments’ funding announcement in May 2009 for a $1 billion world-class cancer centre, the Parkville Comprehensive Cancer Centre (Parkville CCC), the Joint Venture Agreement was signed by all the partners at the Victoria State Parliament on 11 November 2009.

Partners in the new centre include the Peter McCallum Cancer Centre, Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Melbourne Health (which includes the Royal Melbourne Hospital), The University of Melbourne, the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and the Royal Women’s Hospital. The Parkville CCC will drive leadership and innovation in the fields of cancer treatment, research and education and training by having the largest concentration of cancer clinicians and researchers in the southern hemisphere, ranking among the top ten cancer centres in the world.
Achieving the vision requires a commitment to collaboration, and all partners agreed to establish the Parkville CCC as an incorporated joint venture. The joint venture agreement was signed in the presence of the State Government’s Minister for Health, the Hon. Daniel Andrews MP and the Minister for Innovation, Gavin Jennings MLC.
