Scope of Workshop

The emphasis of the workshop will be on acquiring microscope images in a scientifically valid way, handling and preparing those images for publication so that they retain their scientific integrity. There will be an introduction to the physiology and bias of the human visual system, current microscope imaging platforms, working with digital images, image display and storage, image compression and projection, preparing microscope images for publication.

Format for Workshop

The mornings will consist of 3-4 lectures and demonstrations, and the afternoons will be used for laboratory and/or project sessions to give participants practical experience with the equipment and techniques. Each day will finish with a panel based question and answer session on the day’s topics

The lectures and tutorials will be presented by experienced Australian and International lecturers.

 Registration

Full Workshop registrants

There is a $50:00 registration fee payable by cash or cheque (GST exempt) at registration desk on the first day of the workshop. This includes the conference dinner.

Lectures Only registrants

There is a $20:00 registration fee payable by cash or cheque (GST exempt) at registration desk on the first day of the workshop. The conference dinner is NOT included.

 As we have increased the number of people that can attend (eg. lectures only); budgetary pressure was placed on the sponsored catering budget. For this reason we cannot offer dinner included in the “lectures only” registration fee. There may be a few extra places available for dinner, those interested will need to book dinner at the registration desk and pay an additional $40:00.

 Catering

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors (Coherent/Nikon and BD Biosciences, lunch and tea breaks are included for all registrants.

 Conference Dinner

The conference dinner will be held on Thursday evening at IL Vicolo Courtyard Restaurant from 7:00pm at 50 Grattan St. Carlton.
 For “Full Workshop” registrants the dinner is included in the registration fee.
