To identify a spot, move the mouse pointer over it. If a spot has been identified (published), it's identity will be displayed in the blue panel above the gel. The displayed identifier is linked to the currently selected search field, i.e. if AC is selected the accession number is displayed, ID will show the ID code and DE the description.Show all identified spots
To locate all currently identified (published) spots, check the "Show all identified spots" check box in the upper left corner of the blue panel above the gel.Search for identified spots
Identified spots will now be marked with a small red square, indicating their position. To identify the spot, move the mouse pointer over it. The identity of the spot will be displayed in the blue panel above the gel. The displayed identifier is linked to the currently selected search field, i.e. if AC is selected the accession number is displayed, ID will show the ID code and DE the description. Right clicking on the spot will retrieve the corresponding ExPASy database entry.
To search for an identified (published) spot:Retrieve ExPASy entry
- Enter the search term in the "Search for" text field.
- Select the field in which to search for the term (AC - Accession Number, ID - ID code, DE - Description).
- Press the "Search" button.

To retrieve the ExPASy entry for an identified spot, move the mouse over it and left click. A new browser window will open displaying the retrieved entry from the ExPASy database.MW and pI estimation
When the mouse is moved over the gel image, the approximate MW and pI at the pointer position, calculated from the markers, is displayed in the lower right corner of the blue panel above the gel.
